Interview with Alex Taber, Vacuum Collector Friday, 29 July 2016 We recently had the opportunity to discuss vacuums with a passionate collector from Pennsylvania.

Robert Alexander Taber, or just “Alex” as he prefers, has made vacuum cleaners his life. As a child, when other children were playing with toy cars, Alex was pulling apart vacuum cleaners. At the early age of 17, when standing outside an Electrolux office looking at the new machines, he noticed a help wanted sign. Shortly thereafter he began selling vacuums for Electrolux. In 1975 he started selling for Kirby and worked with them for over 20 years. Alex is now retired and lives on a farm in Pennsylvania but the vacuum obsession still runs strong. He is the founder of the Vacuum Cleaner Collectors Club and continues to work on his private collection. In our discussions with Alex it is apparent that he is a fountain of knowledge when it comes to vacuums and is also something of a historian on the topic. We asked Alex some questions about vacuums and collecting. Dyson DC41 Animal Upright The Dyson DC41 Animal is a powerful upright vacuum cleaner designed specifically with pet hair issues in mind. Dyson DC41 Animal is the active base plate under the cleaner head which self-adjusts for optimal contact with all floor types. Without needing to bend down or make adjustments to the cleaner head the Dyson DC41 Animal smoothly transitions to hard floors. On hard or delicate surfaces the brush bar retreats to protect the floor while the base plate lowers to create a seal for more suction power.

The DC41 Animal uses patented Dyson Ball technology for easy maneuverability. 3 year Dyson and ABC warranty (coverage valid within the U.S. only) on parts and labor, and comes complete with brush, stair and crevice tool attachments. This vacuum was re-manufactured by Dyson at their factory with genuine Dyson parts. 2.
