His new house will not have any carpet, but it does have stairs, so clearly a canister vac is the best choice. (He also hates the upright-style thing he is getting rid of!) I've had a (genuine) Electrolux canister for years and years but (a) there's no way he's getting that and (b) there's no way I can afford to give him something that expensive.
