Furious customers are sharing their dodgy product horror stories as part of a new campaign.Consumer advocacy group Choice recently kicked off its 'Without' competition, an online call out asking shoppers to send photographs and details of their worst experiences with faulty goods.Hundreds of customers have already detailed their shocking shopping experiences, with everything from skin-coloured pants to exploding pressure-hose cleaners covered. Furious customers are sharing their horror stories with dodgy products, including this pressure cleaner that caught fire, as part of a new consumer campaignJodie McNally posted a photo of her Samsung washing machine that caught fire while it was being used and torched all the clothes inside at the time. Ms McNally told Daily Mail Australia the fire was so bad it made her home 'uninhabitable'.'We're still in the process of repairing the house from smoke damage,' she said. 'It's a long, slow process... the house was uninhabitable... there's still no toilet or shower.'

'It contains flavour, but what does that mean? Is is apple flavour? Is it even from actual apples?' Danielle Archer said about Schweppes' misleading 'apple' sodaAnother slightly less serious complaint came from Danielle Archer, who bought a Schweppes Apple drink only to find it didn't have any apples in it. 'I think Schweppes is being a bit misleading and deceptive calling by this apple soda,' Ms Archer told Daily Mail Australia.'It contains flavour, but what does that mean? Is it even from actual apples? Some of the products fails submitted to Choice were less serious than others, including these skin-coloured leggings'I don't think food manufacturers should be able to get away with this. The actual product is quite nice, but it's not an apple soda and should not be called one.' Ms Archer said she sent her story to Choice because she 'admires the work it does in the consumer advocacy space'. Amanda Wallis shared a grisly image of her finger she 'had to have glued back together', after cutting it on the side of a Sharp refrigerator.

False advertising was a leading complaint, such as this example of a 'leather' couch that did not use any of the advertised material 'I had to go hospital and have my hand fixed,' Ms Wallis told Daily Mail Australia. 'I was holding underneath the side of the fridge as we wheeled it out of the kitchen and it cut my hand.'A friend then had to help me with the fridge, and he cut his hand on it too. Amanda Wallis told Daily Mail Australia she cut her hand while holding the bottom of her Sharp fridge to wheel it out of the kitchen 'I don't know if it's just my one or if all of them are that way.' Ms Wallis, who bought the refrigerator in December last year, said she sent her story to Choice after seeing it on Facebook.'I saw the ad and thought, "actually, I do have a dodgy product",' she said. Jodie McNally said he house was 'uninhabitable' after he Samsung washing machine caught fire while it was being used'In a way it's a bit funny or ironic, I guess it's called 'Sharp' for a reason.'

The consumer watchdog said it launched the social media competition, which runs until February 28, to help make people aware of their 'consumer rights'.'We know product failures are under reported, but they still spiked to 14 per cent in 2013-14,' Choice spokesman Tom Godrey told Daily Mail Australia. Scott Harrison submitted this image in Choice's Without competition, with the photograph showing an advertisement for 'imported' Australian asparagus'We were inundated with people coming to us with product failures, so we thought we'd run this competition to really get the word out there.'What we will do is gather this information and pack it up to help inform our submission to the review of Australian Consumer Law this year.'We're very worried someone could be seriously injured or killed by one of these faulty products... a lot of these messages are lost to consumers - we need to get these dodgy products out of homes.'A Samsung spokesman said they 'sincerely regrets the damage that occurred to Ms McNally's property', and reminded customers six models were recalled in April 2013.
