Currys PC World has reported its best-ever start to Black Friday, with more than seven million shoppers visiting its site already this week and eight items being sold every minute so far this morning. Yesterday's traffic to the electricals specialist almost matched that of Boxing Day last year - typically retailers' busiest day in the calendar. While some retailers - such as Tesco - appear to be seeing a slower start to the sales bonanza than expected, this morning alone, there has been a 1,100 per cent increase in hourly unique visitors and a 2,900 per cent increase on orders compared to the same time last week, Currys PC World claimed.
