If you're considering purchasing a Filter Queen canister vac, there are a couple of things you should be aware of. First, I want to state that I own several "high end" vacuums and I recommend the Rainbow above all of them. (See my guide to Rainbows for more on that). Now, back to the Filter Queens. There are sold door-to-door and retail for around $2,000 brand new. THEY ARE NOT WORTH $2,000! The vacuum itself uses a cyclonic system similar to the modern upright Windtunnel, only instead of using a dirt cannister or bag to trap dirt, it uses a chamber where dirt is filtered by a paper cone and a round charcoal filter, thus returning clean air to the atmosphere. Sounds good in theory except the cones can not be purchased at local stores like Wal-mart, which means either tracking down a Filter Queen dealer (and there aren't too many around) or ordering them from ebay. Either way, they are fairly expensive and need to be replaced ever 3-4 weeks. At least with a Rainbow you don't need to buy filters or bags, ever.
