This self-cleaning system makes a “thumping” sound which is caused when a solenoid closes a butterfly valve and reverses the air flow thru the filter.  This action blows the fine dust off the filter keeping it clean and then reopens the vale.  The self-cleaning function occurs for each filter on 30 seconds intervals.  Note – The HEPA filters on the DWV012 should be replaced every 6 months under normal applications.
