The $230 Ergorapido Power stick vacuum is the third Electrolux vacuum we've tested. The $300 Precision Brushroll Clean upright vacuum got an excellent review, whereas the $349 UltraPower Studio stick vacuum turned out to be quite disappointing. The Ergorapido sits somewhere in the middle. It performed better than the UltraPower in our stick vacuum tests, but it still didn't do as well as the $500 Dyson DC59 Animal or the $180 Hoover Linx . If you're set on an Electrolux model or plan to focus your cleaning efforts on smaller debris, the Ergorapido is a fine choice. But, if you want something with top all-around performance, look to the DC59 or the Linx. The Ergorapido Power is pretty similar to the UltraPower Studio in terms of design and features. The Ergorapido is metallic purple with orange accents, whereas the UltraPower is metallic dark blue with orange accents. Like the UltraPower, the Ergorapido offers cord-free vacuuming complete with charging dock, LED "headlights," a see-through nozzle, and flexible tubing that makes it extremely maneuverable.

The Ergorapido also offers Electrolux's signature "Brush Roll Clean" technology. If you recall from my UltraPower review, the Brush Roll Clean feature allows you to detangle hair or other particles without having to remove the brush and clean it manually. Just turn on the vacuum and press the lever located on the right side of the nozzle. That will release another lever inside the nozzle that "combs" through the brush to help with small particle buildup. While it probably won't be able to fix any large-debris tangles like a mishap with a set of earphones, it does a pretty good job with the small stuff.From there, the Ergorapido's features start to diverge a bit. Unlike the UltraPower, the Ergorapido is a 2-in-1 model -- a stick and handheld vacuum are neatly packaged into one traditional-looking stick vacuum. Press the 2-in-1 button on the front of the vacuum and the handheld unit will release for use. A separate brush attachment for the handheld vacuum is even included with the purchase.

Additionally, the Ergorapido offers only two cleaning modes -- normal and high, whereas the UltraPower offers three: normal, booster, and silent. It also doesn't have an LED status bar that lets you know how much time is left on your charge. Unlike the UltraPower's 25.2-volt lithium ion battery, the Ergorapido's 14.4-volt battery is nickel-metal hydride -- common in handheld vacuums. At 5.5 pounds, the Ergorapido is the lightest of the "traditional" stick vacs. The UltraPower weighs 6.3 pounds, the Linx weighs 7.3 pounds, and the $350 Gtech AirRam weighs 7.7 pounds. Due to their unconventional configurations, the Dyson DC59 and the $180 Shark Rocket weigh less -- 4.6 pounds for the DC59 and 4.2 pounds for the Rocket.Stick vacuums tend to be easier to use than uprights. They weigh less, and they're typically cordless (all of the models we tested are cordless, except the Shark Rocket). There's much less lugging involved overall. The Electrolux Ergorapido is no exception.Like the Electrolux UltraPower Studio stick vacuum I reviewed, the Ergorapido is incredibly easy to maneuver.

I love the bendable tubing on the back that makes it so good at making turns (and where the UltraPower had trouble standing upright, the Ergorapido seems much better at snapping into place and staying put). The Electrolux ErgoRapido EL1030A is primarily designed to be used on bare floors and rugs, but it can also tackle carpet but don’t expect too much especially if the carpet is thick.

It is equipped with a rotating brush that’ll help sweep up dirt but this feature cannot be turned off.It is powered by an 18 volt lithium ion battery that takes around 5 hours to charge but if you’re using this for the first time, you’ll need a whole day to charge (24 hours).The battery is located within the body and comes with a charging base that allows you to store this upright.Here’s a video that highlights all these…This unit will work best on bare floor picking up debris and dirt effectively but only to a certain extent.As I’ve seen in several video reviews and in written posts – as the dirt gets bigger the harder it is to clean.Great for fine to medium sized dirt but the larger ones will not fit in the low clearance of the head, these larger particles tend to get pulverized leaving more mess but you can use the handheld though to pick those up.Be careful though if you have floors that are easily scratched because if the brush under the head gets dirty it can do some damage.

Check regularly to see if it needs cleaning. The good news is that it isn’t hard to remove the brush roll.On low pile and even carpet or rugs, it shouldn’t have any problem picking up fine to medium sized particles and debris.It becomes a problem if you use it on something more plush – it becomes difficult to push around, almost unmovable on thick carpets mainly because it has small wheels and a low clearance that renders it useless on these types of surfaces.It won’t pick up everything on the edges because the air vents or inlets are around an inch from the edge – it doesn’t do a good job funneling dirt in this area.A work around for this is again, using the handheld along with the crevice tool to pick up debris here.There is no pet hair tool included so removing pet hair on carpet can be a challenge – it’ll pickup most of it but there will be strands left that will need to be picked either by your hand or by a stronger vacuum.Don’t count on it cleaning pet hair on thick carpets because it doesn’t have the raw power to force it out nor the attachments to loosen it up.

There are two attachments – a crevice and brush tool. Both can be stored within the charging unit.Pretty neat because you don’t have to look for a place to store it,  you just clip it on in there.The initial charge will take around 24 hours, after that it’ll take around 5 hours in subsequent charges.Take note that the battery cannot be removed and according to most reviews it cannot be replaced.That’s part of the reason why Electrolux gave this a 2 year warranty, if it breaks down anywhere within that time period you can call them (1-800-896-9756) and ask for a replacement but after that period though this essentially becomes disposable.To remove the filter, take off handheld from the body then remove the front portion of it to reveal the butt of the filter.Push on the two locks that hold it in place to remove the filter then empty the dirt from the container.Now this is the messy part – you’ll need to use your fingers to take off any dirt that’s stuck on the mesh filter after that remove the cloth filter attached behind it.

You’ll notice a that it has a lever that you can to pull and release to shake off the dirt – it’s equivalent to shaking or tapping it on something to dislodge anything sticking on it.Anyway to show you how it’s done watch this…Both mesh and cloth filters are washable, but don’t wash it in a dishwasher.Expect anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes on a single charge.If you only use the normal setting it should go the full 30 minutes but at high speed, that number will drop anywhere between 10 to 16 minutes but that will depend on whether you turn it on intermittently or don’t turn it off.This comes in with a 2 year limited warranty.A promotional video from Electrolux…With close to 300 reviews and counting in Amazon, and more around  forums, youtube and other sites, we have a strong base of real life “testers” to give us a report on how this product performed over time, not just when it was brand new but over a period ranging from a few weeks to a few years.There is one thing all the good reviews have in common – they used it either in bare floors or in thin carpets.
