However, I bought the service contract (BIG MISTAKE) and Hoover gives this a 5 year warranty. THE SERVICE CONTRACT does not cover this vacuum because of the manufacturer's warranty, only in case of a power surge, that's it, so IT'S WORTHLESS ! At the base of the vacuum there's a small blue plastic release button you have to press in order to use the crevice tool. Mine came apart in my hand so now the vacuum is useless, poor design really. That said, they do not make just this blue button and so this sent me into a long, very long journey into a holding zone pattern. Enough about that, it's an okay vacuum to use everyday when you don't want to lug out your real vacuum, but it really can't replace your vacuum. I've owned it for less than 8 months and the wheels keep falling off. I have super glued them, epoxied them and in frustration even tried duct tape.

I bought this product to replace two Hoover Platinum rechargeable vacuums I have at each end of the house. Battery last like the company's propaganda claims. Now for the downside : 1. it is much more difficult (for an older person) to operate. The platinum works like a dream on hardwood floors(just not very long). 2. more difficult to empty the dust bin than the platinum( a condition ameliorated by a larger capacity).The Hoover Air battery is rated at 72 watt hours ( meaning that if the motor drew 144 watts of power, it could run continuously for 72/144 or 1/2 hour.

The hoover platinum has only a 36 watt hour battery. That being said the Air is an excellent product that does better on carpeting and wood floors. It is a heavier vacuum leaving the Platinum a better choice for the older person. I checked out the Dyson rechargeable. Its not in the same league as either the Air or the platinum. Suction on hose not great but does pick up small stuff. Just started using the vac and am happy so far. Picks up dog hair off my rug pretty good but does have to be emptied frequently since I have 2 dogs, one that is a real shedder. I mainly use it on laminate floors and one area rug. I never leave the dog hair in the canister when not in use, because it will make the vac exhaust smell like dogs the next time. The doggy odor will permeate the filter. I like the washable filter. The older one has that also.

The batteries are not interchangeable with the older model however. I had a problem getting the top off the dust canister and putting it back on the first few times. Was such a tight fit and awkward to hold. I put it between my feet and twisted with both hands and finally got it off. I put a little silicone around the rim and that helped out. The cool cat however gets fur EVERYWHERE. Long story short, this vacuum has made the hair issue a non issue. Even the battery lasts up to 40 min or so. I went to use the battery the other day which I have yet to use to its capacity, and so i pulled it off the charger and it is 100% dead. At least 1 still works, hopefully Hoover will replace the dead one though.The battery for your Air Cordless should last longer than this. Please remove the battery from the charger and unplug the charger from the wall for 30 seconds.

Plug only the charger back into the wall. The light on the charger should flash red, blue, then off. Next press the little blue button on the bottom of the battery. At least one blue light should flash. Once completed place the battery back into the charger and the light on the battery will flash blue while charging. Verified purchaser I was tired of pushing around my heavy vacuum cleaner and fighting with the cord. When I found this vacuum cleaner and read the review I decided to give it a try. Everything consumers said about this product is true as far as I can tell, I've only had it for five days. It is very, very easy to assemble and use. It is lightweight and seems to be cleaning my carpets very well, judging by the debris in the tank, even when I use it every other day. I love the swivel head and the size of the head allows me to clean areas that I used to have to move furniture to clean.

It is wonderful having two batteries. I haven't ran out of a charge yet. I would be nice if there was an indicator telling me when the battery was starting to run out of a charge. There may be one, but I haven't seen it. I also appreciate the fact that it cleans both hardwood floors and carpets. It is so easy to grab it a vacuum! It is also small and easy to store. I've determined that this vacuum is AMAZING for everything except high-pile. I absolutely LOVE that there is no cord - I am too lazy to keep moving a cord around, therefore I hardly ever vacuumed. But with this vacuum, I can whip it out for a quick sweep anytime and throw it back in the closet. I keep one charger on the station at all times, but I feel like the charge lasts forever. The only reason I'm giving this 4 stars instead of 5 is that it's not amazing on high-pile carpets, but I've just decided to keep our old corded vacuum to clean that particular rug.

But I only get to use 2 of them. After I started using them every night until the battery ran out of power and may even used a second battery partially it would keep on chewing on a pebble. When I turned off the vacuum and shook the vacuum all of this debris would come out made up mostly of pebble. A co-worker told me u need to cut the rubber trap door with a razor blade. I did the other the next day. It might chew on a pebble for 5 seconds at most but then get rid of it. I think my co-workers didn't clean it enough and burnt out the motor somewhat.
