This one worked great for about six months, but then stopped working because the on/off switch broke. It no longer locks into place when you try to flip it to turn on the machine. That happened some time ago (but only after six months of use!), and we still owned the old machine, so we went back to using it.

My wife would like to use the newer model, however, but I cannot find the on/off power switch listed on the "parts" website. So we have an otherwise perfectly good vacuum that because of this defective switch will not run at all, and for more than a year now has just been sitting in the closet in my study. It's going to the landfill soon if I cannot obtain the part I need to fix it. The belt keeps sliding off after only a few minutes use. It worked fine for the first month. I vacuum every 2 - 3 days on mainly hardwood floors and only a few hall runners and one large area rug. The correct new belt is attached properly as well as the correct floor settings, and all areas are clean and clear of clogs as noted in the manual.

I have read the same complaint about this vacuum by someone else on the Walmart site. So is there something that I am missing here? I would have never thought that a Hoover vacuum would be so disappointing. Don't think I will replace it with another Hoover product.You shouldn’t be having any issues with the belt slipping off on your Hoover Whole House. If you’ve never used the vacuum after purchasing it more than 6 months ago, a fresh belt may be needed for best performance. We recommend replacing the belt every 6-12 months. Started vacuuming, and now belt want stay on, I paid way to much to have to put a belt on every time I vacuume!.Not worth the money!Oh no, that doesn’t sound too good. Sometimes if the height adjustment is set too low this can cause the belt to slip, stretch, or break prematurely. We suggest changing the height adjustment to one or two levels higher than the current setting. For optimum performance, we recommend changing the belt every 6-12 months.

Canister wasn't in so it blew all over the room.The vacuum looked new when I took it out but I suspect Hoover is leaving these dust balls inside so it dirties up the vacuum so you can't return it if you don't like it. Dirty trick on Hoovers part if you ask me!!.
