If you've never used a shop vac before and have only used regular consumer vacuums here are a few things you may want to know: This thing is loud by comparison (but quite quiet for a shop vac), and if it fits in the hose (including liquids) it WILL suck it up. A high efficiency HEPA filter and/or filter bags are highly recommended for this for household use so you don't re-release the dust you suck up. All of that said, this is as powerful as any other shop vac I've used.With adapters any suction driven accessory for household cleaning will work on this thing, but better because it has more suction than any regular vacuum.
