The following is an excerpt from Donovan Hohn's Moby-Duck, which was runner up for the 2012 PEN/E. O. Wilson Literary Science Writing Prize. We all like duckies. (a Mallard Hen & Drake =D) Assuming a parallel in species development between duckies and chickens, it is hypothesized that the egg came before the duck. "...a team made up of a geneticist, philosopher and chicken farmer claim to have found an answer. It was the egg. Put simply, the reason is down to the fact that genetic material does not change during an animal's life. However, it has been suggested that the geneticist, philosopher and chicken farmer have made a terrible, terrible error in their calculations. Since the first ever creature we now know as 'chicken' must have been the offspring of another creature with slightly different genetic code (i.e. not a chicken), the first ever chicken must have hatched from a non-chicken egg. And frankly, a non-chicken egg just doesn't cut it. Therefore, if the question 'which came first, the chicken or the egg' is more accurately posed 'which came first, the chicken or the chicken egg', it is clear that the chicken came first.

The first chicken egg can only have been the product of the first chicken. This theory has attracted some degree of controversy due to its chicken-centric worldview, which some consider tantamount to racism. Q: Do duckies taste like chicken?you've had enough boneless, skinless chicken breasts and rotisserie chicken for one lifetime. You need to eat more duck. If you know me you know this isn’t entirely strange given my penchant for ethically taxidermied animals but this was an unexpected, unclothed duck I didn’t recognize. The whole thing unfolded on twitter so I thought I’d share it here so you’d know why you should follow me on twitter.

Or why you should unfollow me on twitter. And I’m sharing all of this because it should make you feel better about yourself in comparison because if you haven’t realized there was a dead duck in your room for an indefinite period of time you are a far better housekeeper than I am.

Yes (3) No (1) Report Yes (3) No (1) Verified purchaser I have used this for years; If your rug backing is CLEAN, it adheres fine to jute, rubber, etc. The side touching the floor does not have adhesive, but the foam is very soft, so it sticks well to tile, laminate, polished wood, etc. I use it on throw rugs and door mats on tile and laminate floors, and my 40- dogs run across it without it moving. Since there is no adhesive on the bottom, it picks up easily for sweeping, vacuuming or mopping. It lasts several years - eventually dirt or sand becomes stuck to the soft foam and it starts slipping.

When replacing, it peels off the rug easily and there is no residue on the floor to scrape off. Works much better than the rubber "non-slip" mats and much less messy than double-backed tape. The reviewers who gave it one star did not use it as directed. It is not designed to stick to concrete or other carpet... Yes () No (1) Report Yes () No (1) Verified purchaser If you have rugs that slip, scoot, move around when walking on them...or just want a rug of any size to keep its corners down, you know, some rug corners simply continue to 'roll up', then you will never use any other product once you use 'Duck Hold-It Tape' for rugs! This tape can be used on latex backed, jute backed, self backed rugs, any rug, any size. It is thin so it will not raise the edges of your rugs. I even use it on latex backed bath rugs! They scoot out of place too even having latex backing, at least they will until you use 'Duck Hold-It Tape! The hold is absolutely amazing. I can tell you the only reason you will ever need to replace this tape is if you wash it in the machine along with your rug and it gets ruined or if your powerful vacuum cleaner sucks up the rug and eats the tape.

I have used this tape now 7 years. I have rugs running along a long hallway. The rugs were washed the first time in 7 years this past fall, having much traffic but little dirt in this area. I decided to replace the old tape with new instead of trying to save the old. These rugs however have been vacuumed 2-5 times per week all these years. They never moved...walking over constantly, dogs, vacuum cleaner, rollator walker, they never moved an inch! It will be your choice how much tape to use per side of each rug. Myself, I like the entire perimeter covered in this tape. It may seem a bit expensive to use it this way, but my rugs do not move, period. And it does '0' harm, absolutely no harm to your floors surface! I just ordered more to have on hand in case I buy a new rug...I NEVER want to be without this product in my home! You know, most homes have a rug somewhere, bath, hall, kitchen or main area. Anywhere you want a small rug or big rug to 'stay put', never move out of its place, then buy 'Duck Hold-It Tape for Rugs!

Yes () No (1) Report Yes () No (1) Verified purchaser I bought this because it was way cheaper than buying several rug mats to go under all my area rugs and it has kept my rugs in place over my hardwood floors. I love that all I had to do was cut the tape to size around the edges, so easy! The only thing I'm not happy about is that I ran out and need to buy another roll, but still a cheaper alternative to rug mats.
