Kathy Cocovski has departed after just five months as CEO of Godfreys, the vacuum cleaner chain. Rod Walker, the chairman of ailing vacuum cleaner group Godfreys, says it's not appropriate for him to divulge his "private discussions" with departed chief executive Kathy Cocovski​, who has stepped down after just five months in the job.But Mr Walker told The Australian Financial Review on Wednesday her departure had nothing to do with the performance of the company which had been trading reasonably in a difficult environment where Brexit, an eight-week election campaign and uncertainty over the election result were weighing on consumer confidence."The last month or two it's been a little bit more positive," Mr Walker said of Godfreys' performance.He wouldn't be specific when asked if he had tried to talk Ms Cocovski out of quitting after such a short time. Mr Hardy was most recently a chief executive at Fusion Retail Brands, the parent company which owns footwear brands Mathers, Williams, Colorado and Diana Ferrari after stepping in to take that job in November 2014. Mr Walker said in an announcement to the ASX on Wednesday that Ms Cocovski had "made significant inroads in making the fundamental changes Godfreys needs to set a course for improved long-term performance".Godfreys shares slipped 6 per cent in early trade to below $1, up from about 80¢ when Ms Cocovski took the job. She had previously been an executive at Woolworths-owned Big W and Myer.
