Shark Rotator Professional Lift-Away (NV501) "I'm Going to Use the "L" Word!" - By (Chicagoland, IL) It's hard to get over your first love. For me, it was the Fantom Thunder, that amazing sucking machine that beat the fibers right out of your carpet, somehow didn't suck up your area rugs, didn't have beaters that clogged with hair, and had super easy to use tools. Alas, the Fantom did not love me back, and two of them actually caught on fire when the belts slipped and they had to be flung out the door, leaving behind a burnt rubbery smell and a broken heart. Then my husband bought me a Dyson. I've never been more than lukewarm about it. You know that piece of thread on your carpet that you run over with the vacuum over and over and it doesn't get sucked up, so you pick it up and peer at it and scratch your head and drop it again and you still can't suck it up? My Dyson had some pretty nice accessory tools, but it was a total fail at upright carpet cleaning. Notice the images on the product page here on Amazon, for the Shark Rotator, how the lady is SMILING while she vacuums?
Now I know why... full review Hoover UH72400 WindTunnel Air Steerable Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner - Corded "Good in so many ways, but not for thick, plush carpet" - By I do like so many things about this vacuum. I bought it to supplement a couple year old Hoover Windtunnel that is a great cleaner, but heavy to carry up and down stairs. I was going to use the old one upstairs in the bedrooms and use this on the lower two floors. This is so light and maneuverable. The tool suction is above average, and even though you have to move the hose from one port to the other, that takes 2 seconds and is not a burden. This is great on floors and low pile carpet. It is SO light and easy to carry around and I love the narrow width of the floor nozzle as it fits and manuevers into and in between almost anything. I have always avoided bagless cleaners, but emptying this is not a chore and the bin is very easy to click in and out of the unit and is easy to take apart for more thorough cleaning... full review
"Made My Carpets Look Worse... In a Good Way" - By (Oregon, USA) With this vacuum, for the first time ever in this apartment, I get the stripes on my carpet. However I was disappointed that my floor didn't really look cleaner. In fact, I realized that it was starting to look worse! Then I realized why... this vacuum does TOO good a job of sucking up the general dirt, so it leaves a more noticeable contrast to the set-in spots all over my carpet. miele vacuum cleaner filter replacementI spent today shampooing the floor so now my carpet is all one color again. reverse air flow vacuum cleanerThe only thing I don't love about the vacuum is how easily it tips over when using the hose. vacuum cleaner robot australia
You HAVE to hold the canister while using the hose, which alters my habits of picking up toys as I go along vacuuming. Oh, and you HAVE to unwind the entire cord in order to use the hose. That's sort of annoying too, though I'm used to it now... full review Dyson DC41 Animal Complete Upright Vacuum Cleaner - Fuchsia - Pink "Sucketh doth it." - By I bought the animal complete about two weeks ago, and here is the initial quality breakdown: 1. It does have incredible suction, as nearly all reviews note. We were using a DC14 animal for the last several years, and it was/is a great vacuum, but this one has better suction. The older model is now semi-retired to the upstairs, but it has never needed so much as a new belt in the last several years. I recommend it highly, too. 2. it is very maneuverable and fits into places the older models cannot reach. On carpet, it is especially pleasurable to use, but on hard surfaces, it is not as friendly as the older model, due mostly to the nature of the ball.
It is, however, still excellent at cleaning hard floors. 3. The complaints regarding its propensity to fall over are understandable because one must make sure it is clicked into the full upright and locked position when the flight is complete. Ours hasn't fallen over because I was aware of this issue from reviews. It's very minor and easy to avoid if you just make sure it's locked. 4. The cord is not retractable, but didn't everyone know that before they paid 650 or more for this item?... full review Hoover Platinum Collection Lightweight Bagged Upright with Canister, UH30010COM - Corded "Quality product, light as air, makes carpets look new!" - By (PA, USA) Our old upright sweeper needed replaced. After much research I recently bought this Platinum for my wife but I have actually had fun using it myself and our carpets have never looked better. Be aware that the price on these sweepers is all over the place but you don't need to be told to shop around, do you? The bundled canister deal is a simple but effective solution as trying to design high quality tools into a dedicated upright vacuum has always been a fool's errand.
After talking with her friends my wife was leaning towards very expensive vacuums sold by guys with British accents or spending a pot of gold to get somewhere over the rainbow of carpet cleaning perfection. Well, the leading consumer magazine rated the Platinum #1 and hundreds of reviews on the web sing this sweepers praises too. (By and large, the very expensive sweepers did quite poorly in these unbiased tests). I used to sell and service various vacuum brands and this Hoover Platinum may be the best upright I have ever used - ever - period.! Shark Navigator Lift-Away Vacuum (NV352) "Does a fantastic job on carpets and tile" - By Miele S7260 Cat & Dog Upright Vacuum Cleaner (Old Model) "The best vacuum I have ever owned" - By (USA) I have only had the Miele (pronounced 'Mee-lah') S7260 Cat and Dog for a short time, but I have put it through its paces throughout the house, which is approximately 3500 sq. ft. and consists of all type of flooring - plush carpet, Berber carpet, wool area rugs, hardwood, ceramic tile, stair runners, etc.
Barring anything happening to change my opinion (such as something breaking that shouldn't break, etc.), I really like this machine!... full review "No more dirt in my carpet." - By Eureka Easy Clean 2 in 1 Lightweight Vacuum, 169B - Corded "I would buy it again." - By Newest Update, Jan 3rd, 2013: First off----YES---after 10 full years of use I would buy this unit again, without hesitation, no questions asked. I have used it LIGHT DUTY for the whole 10 years. On mostly hard floors and a couple of area rugs. It has been bullet-proof. I have a canister vac and a swiffer wet-jet for actual cleaning. This is important as the Eureka Easy Clean is a great little LIGHT DUTY, area, hair and crumb removal tool. That is what it is for and it excels at specifically that job. I should rate 5 stars...but it would need just a little bit more suction for that. If eureka increased the motor size (amperage) then it would get 5 stars. But I give it 4.9 for reliability and doing what it was designed to do... full review
